On the verge of serving a federal prison sentence, and after a recent diagnosis of cancer. Legendary Tennessee Moonshiner Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton was found dead yesterday at the age of 61. It appears he committed suicide via carbon monoxide poisoning. Popcorn was known all over the country for his appearances in documentaries about making Moonshine. He was a Tennessee legend. One interesting irony here is that his daughter, Sky Sutton, just published her book “Daddy Moonshine: The Story of Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton,” the same day her father died. She said that he was alive in the morning when she took the book in to be published and he was dead by the evening after it was printed. Anyone interested in the book can email Sutton at asneeded@skysutton.com. Her blog is Here.
